I've got news for you, a ribbon isn't going to do a whole lot to save the world. People have been putting ribbons on their cars and wearing them on their lapels for a while now, and really what good has it done. It is a freakin' decal that serves about as much good as the "My kid beat up your honor student" bumper sticker.
But this craze has gone too far. How do I know? Have you got your Tsunami Awareness pin?
Did you know there is even a color code for what ribbon is for what? For those too lazy to click the link here is a sample for you.
Red: AIDS, DUI, D.A.R.E., epidermolysis bullosa, and lymphoma.
Yellow: Missing children, bladder cancer, suicide, and spinal bifida.
Blue: Water quality, victim rights, education, dystonia, arthritis, and child abuse.
Light Blue: Prostate cancer, sexual assault, eating disorders, and irritable bowel. Don't forget the Tsunamis too.
Purple: Irritable bowel, alzheimers, animal abuse, and foster care.
Green: Workers safety, genocide in Sudan, eye injury, lyme disease, and mental retardation.
But what color ribbon is there for ribbon addiction? Leave me a comment telling me what color you would suggest for anything not on the list.
